REPUBLICAN FIRST SELECTMAN DEBATE

Republican First Selectman candidate David Becker is pleased to announce that following a meeting setup by James Baldwin, Fairfield Republican Town Committee Chairman, an agreement was reached with his caucus opponent Robert Bellitto, Jr., to hold a Town Hall debate on Monday, July 11th at 7:30 pm.

The debate will be held in the Rotary Room of the Fairfield Public Library’s main branch (www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org) located at 1080 Old Post Road.  The debate is open to all Town residents regardless of political affiliation.  Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to hear from each candidate and ask both direct questions about their platforms and vision for the Town.  This debate comes just a week before Fairfield Republicans vote to decide who will be their party-endorsed First Selectman candidate.

As David Becker previously noted, “The democratic process works best when all registered party voters are engaged with the candidates.”  Today, “I am pleased that Rob has agreed to participate in an open debate with me ahead of the July 19th Fairfield Republican caucus.  In addition to my participation in this event, I fully intend to continue my grassroots campaign approach, driven by various social media platforms to take my fiscally-responsible message directly to the voters across the entire Town of Fairfield.

“I believe today’s agreement with Rob was the right thing for the both of us to do,” added Becker.  “Today’s meeting was cordial and productive.  I appreciate Jim Baldwin’s help in arranging the meeting, and I am glad that Rob and I were able to achieve a timely resolution to this matter.”
