Fairfield GOP Seeks Candidates for July Caucus

The Nov. 5 municipal elections will decide who takes seats on the town's Board of Finance, Board of Education, RTM, Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Board of Assessment Appeals.

Fairfield Republicans have launched "an aggressive recruitment process" to recruit candidates before their July 23 caucus to endorse the GOP slate for the 2013 general election in November, Republican Town Committee Chairman James Millington said.

The Nov. 5 municipal election will be held on Nov. 5 for positions on the Board of Finance, Board of Education, Town Plan & Zoning, Zoning Board of Appeals, Board of Assessment Appeals, Constable, and Representative Town Meeting.

RTM Deputy Majority Leader Edward Bateson (R-3) is leading the recruitment efforts as chairman of the RTC’s Candidate Recruitment Committee, according to Millington.

Any registered Fairfield Republican is eligible to participate and run for any office during the Republican Caucus on July 23. On that day, Fairfield Republicans will be asked to report to a central polling location and cast their ballots to decide the Republican slate of candidates.

“Our town needs candidates who are willing to make the tough decisions. We must control our spending and reduce government waste," Millington said, referring to soon-to-be open seats on the Board of Finance, the school board, and the RTM.

"We must preserve the character of our town. We must be a resource to hear our fellow resident’s tax appeals," Millington added regarding seats on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Board of Assessment Appeals.

"Regardless of the manner you choose to serve, we can’t do it without you."
