Four Fairfield residents are seeking the Republican nomination for two seats on the Board of Education for the municipal elections in November.

School board incumbent Pamela Iacono, John Llewellyn, Eileen Liu-McCormack, and Dorene Herron will be on the ballot for the July 23 Republican Caucus.

Registered Republicans can cast a vote between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe High School on July 23 to ultimately nominate two of the four candidates.

Although state statute allows Republicans to run four candidates on the November ballot for two seats, the Republican Town Committee (RTC) rules state that the party will only put forward the number of candidates who can win election, according to RTC Chair James Millington.

The Fairfield Republican Party will only nominate two candidates for the two open Republican seats.

"I am very excited by the strong interest of many of our residents to step forward to serve our community. We are lucky to have such a great pool of highly qualified individuals in which to choose from," Millington said.

"I ask that all Fairfield Republicans do their research on which candidates they want to represent our party on the ballot in November and come make their selections at the caucus on July 23."
