Fairfield Republicans have a chance to weigh in on who will contest President Barack Obama come November 2012 today in Connecticut’s GOP Primary.
While it seems clear that former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney will snag the party’s nominations, it’s still important for residents to go out and vote, Fairfield Republican Town Committee Chairman Jamie Millington said.
“It would be better if we moved the primary up. We’d have more say as to who the candidate will be,” Millington said. “Nonetheless it’s something we need to move forward with.”
Millington encouraged his fellow party members to take the opportunity to vote; he and his wife will be out doing the same.
He expects the turnout to be light Tuesday due to the no-contest nature of the Connecticut primary, but “it’s still important to exercise our right to vote.”
The polls are open in Fairfield today from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Refer to the chart below (and the map above) for each district’s designated polling place.

Voters will choose from Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum or mark their ballot as “uncommitted.” Though Santorum dropped out of the race earlier this month, his name had already been placed on the ballot.
