Fairfield Guide to State GOP Primary

Fairfield residents who have registered with the Republican Party have a chance to weigh in on who will represent the GOP in the 2012 Presidential Election.

Fairfield Republicans have a chance to weigh in on who will contest President Barack Obama come November 2012 today in Connecticut’s GOP Primary.

While it seems clear that former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney will snag the party’s nominations, it’s still important for residents to go out and vote, Fairfield Republican Town Committee Chairman Jamie Millington said.

“It would be better if we moved the primary up. We’d have more say as to who the candidate will be,” Millington said. “Nonetheless it’s something we need to move forward with.”

Millington encouraged his fellow party members to take the opportunity to vote; he and his wife will be out doing the same.

He expects the turnout to be light Tuesday due to the no-contest nature of the Connecticut primary, but “it’s still important to exercise our right to vote.”
