Fairfield RTM Republicans Elect Leadership

Edward J. Bateson III was elected Majority Leader of the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) by the Republican caucus, and Michael D. Herley was elected Deputy Majority Leader.

Bateson is currently serving his fourth term on the RTM and Herley is in his third term. Earlier this month Fairfield Republicans won the majority on the RTM and now hold 34 seats on the 50-member body.

“Ed Bateson is a well-respected and steadfast leader who has shown time and time again his commitment to the people of Fairfield and for keeping our Town affordable,” said James Millington, chairman of the Fairfield Republican Town Committee. “I am pleased to see the Republican RTM caucus elect him as its Majority Leader. Ed has the wisdom, the knowledge and the diplomacy skills to be a fair and thoughtful leader, and his election as Majority Leader only underscores these fine characteristics.”
