Fairfield U Receives $17K Grant for Nursing Program

Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) announced earlier this week a $17,285 grant that will help fund Fairfield University’s nurse anesthetist traineeship program. The funding will be used to support students at Fairfield University’s School of Nursing in order to increase the workforce of future primary care nurse practitioners, according to a press release. 

“As a former EMT, I know that training the next generation of healthcare professionals is vital to ensuring the health and well-being of our communities,” Himes said. “As we continue seeking ways to reduce our federal deficit, grants like this are an excellent example of smart government investment in our nation’s future. I look forward to seeing Fairfield University’s new nursing students use the skills they learn in school to serve those in need.”

The funding for Fairfield University’s nurse anesthetist traineeships was awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Nurse Anesthetist Traineeships grant program. This is the third year in a row that the school has been awarded this grant. Last year, Fairfield University received a $12,516 grant for the same program.
