Thomas Conley has been named Fairfield’s new Chief Building Official effective immediately. Conley replaces James Gilleran who had served the town since 1987.
Conley, 59, of Fairfield, is a State of Connecticut Licensed Electrical Inspector and a State of Connecticut Licensed Building Official. He is a member of the I.B.E.W Local 488 Electrical Union, a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and holds an E-1 License as an Unlimited Electrical Contractor, according to First Selectman Mike Tetreau.
“The Town of Fairfield’s Building Department is continuing the tradition of safeguarding the public health, safety and general welfare through education and code enforcement,” said Conley.
Before assuming the role of Chief Building Official, Conley had been serving as building inspector for the Town of Fairfield since 1997. Conley is a former member of the Sullivan-McKinney Elder Housing’s Executive Board. He also previously served on the Town’s Representative Town Meeting (RTM) in districts ten and three.
“Tom brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this key role which will help the Building Department continue to provide quality service to our community,” said Tetreau. “I also want to thank Jim Gilleran for all of his dedicated years of service to our Town and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
