Tom Flynn secured another six years on the Board of Finance as he spearheaded the Republican party's stranglehold on the department. The current chairman of the BOF was the leading candidate with 7,384 votes.
"I'm very excited to have won again," said Flynn. "I'm thankful to the voters and I'm humbled by the support I received. As I do all the time, I promise to do my the best I can for Fairfield."

Flynn, who is a certified public accountant, made a relatively smooth transition into politics six years ago but admits it wasn't as easy as it may have look.
"It's amazing what I didn't know," Flynn said jokingly. "I didn't know what I didn't know, but now I do know what I didn't know. And that really makes it more special."

Flynn will spend the next six years alongside Chris DeWitt, another incumbent and a Republican.
"It was a tough one," DeWitt said enthusiastically. "Four years ago, I won by 120 votes, this time around I won by over 800 votes." DeWitt garnered 6,275 votes.
As one of the incumbents, many felt DeWitt would be a shoe-in to repeat, but he felt it was a lot more than familiarity that impressed the voters. "Being an incumbent is an advantage," he said. "But it's only an advantage if you're doing the right thing."
Joining Flynn and DeWitt on the Board of Finance is Elaine Gaffney, a Democrat who had a strong showing with 5,342 votes.
