Hwang, Kupchick Applaud Fairfield Clean Energy Grant

State Reps. Tony Hwang (R-134) and Brenda Kupchick (R-132) cheered a ‘Bright Idea’ Grant awarded to the town of Fairfield last week.

Fairfield was among 35 municipalities in Connecticut that will receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 through their participation in the statewide Clean Energy Communities program. Hwang and Kupchick attended the State Capitol ceremony to receive the honor.

Fairfield has been on the cutting edge of clean energy being one of the first three towns to start a solarization program. The Fairfield Clean Energy Task Force also started the “Fairfield Commits to Clean Energy” Campaign, which is the first environmentally friendly and sustainable campaign in the state, according to a release from Reps. Hwang and Kupchick.

"I am proud to be a partner with the stalwart environmental and clean energy leaders within our community,” said Hwang. “This grant is a reflection of a collaborative private-public relationship that is making a positive difference in our environment through clean energy use and conservation."

"I applaud Fairfield and especially, Ed Boman for his work in securing the grant,” said Kupchick. “It is so great to see the entire community working together."
