Citizens of the 133rd District have a great opportunity to change the status quo in Hartford by electing Chris DeSanctis for State Representative on Nov. 6th. Chris is running a positive campaign focused on his fresh ideas for making Connecticut a more affordable and attractive place to live and run a business. He's informative and isn't been afraid to go on record with his position on the key issues near and dear to Fairfielders.
In sharp contrast, Chris's opponent, Kim Fawcett decided to spend her time launching irrational and mean-spirited personal attacks on Chris. It's an obvious attempt by a desperate candidate to distract voters from her miserable record. Unfortunately for Kim, that record is clear.
Ms. Fawcett and her party's leadership in the super-majority in Hartford have consistently advocated spending, regulatory and tax policies that have dramatically increased the cost of living in Connecticut. These policies have also made it more difficult and more expensive for businesses to operate in the state. As families and businesses flee to more affordable and business-friendly states, those who remain are left to pay the huge tax burden required to fund our ever-increasing budget -- and we're ALL feeling the pain.
It's the same downward spiral being experienced in states like California and Illinois, whose leaders avoided necessary cost-cutting measures and reforms to solve their financial problems and opted to just raise taxes. Unfortunately, the math didn't work and now our situation is as bad as it gets. We now have the highest taxes of any state in the country, the highest cost of living in the lower 48, the 2nd highest debt per capita and the 2nd highest energy costs in the country. On top of that, Connecticut was recently ranked as the 'Worst Run State in the Country', the 'Worst State to Retire' and are the 7th 'Worst State to Do Business.' That's the record Ms. Fawcett is trying to distract voters from.
Perhaps even more disappointing than her record though is her lack of awareness that our financial situation is as bad as these rankings indicate. Just look at her campaign materials and public comments and you'll see that she doesn't offer even a general vision for turning things around in Connecticut, only more distractions. If she doesn't know the seriousness of our financial situation, and how it's hurting families and businesses, can we really expect that she will ever be a part of the solution?
So let's turn the page on Nov. 6 and elect Chris DeSanctis for State Representative in the 133rd District! He's the serious candidate you can trust to be committed to bringing growth and prosperity back to Connecticut.
