Longtime Southport Resident Seeks Re-election to RTM

Gaylord Meyer announced on Monday her candidacy for a spot on the Representative Town Meeting representing District 1.

Gaylord Meyer announced Monday that she is running for a seat on the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) District 1 in Fairfield. 

A  34-year resident of Southport, Meyer is actively engaged with her constituents in District 1 and throughout Fairfield. As President and Founder of Southport Estate Caretakers, Meyer knows firsthand what it is like to run a business in Fairfield. She has been greatly concerned with the direction of the town's spending, union contracts and pensions causing higher property taxes, making Fairfield less affordable.

Meyer has been actively vocal on issues such as transparency, taxes, bonding, the Metro Center, affordable housing, and Pequot Library. 

“I believe if you don’t stand for something you will fall for everything,” Meyer said in the release announcing her candidacy.

Meyer remains dedicated to being a voice for her constituents and asks kindly for their support at the Republican Caucus on July 23 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe High School’s Lecture Hall, when registered Republicans
in Fairfield are able to stop in and cast their ballot.

“Republicans, please vote on July 23. I would appreciate your support and will continue serve the residents of RTM District 1,” Meyer said. 

Meyer endorses Smarter Spending Candidates for the Board of Education: John Llewellyn and Eileen Liu-McCormack and for RTM District 1: John Donovan, Jay Lipp, and Eric Sundman.
