Malloy, Himes Remind Residents of Thursday's FEMA Deadline

U.S. Rep Jim Himes and Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia urged residents on Monday to apply for federal assistance for damage caused by Tropical Storm Irene before the Nov. 3 deadline, according to the Stamford Advocate.

FEMA representative Darrell Habisch, who joined Himes and Pavia at the to discuss the deadline, said that residents must register an application with FEMA in order to find out if they qualify for aid.

“Residents and businesses should allow FEMA to evaluate their damages and eligibility for assistance, even if they carry insurance,” Gov. Malloy said in a statement released last week. “Individuals and businesses may qualify for low-interest loans and other beneficial disaster recovery programs.”
