Eric Sundman announced his candidacy Monday for the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) District 1 in Fairfield in a Republican Caucus to be held on July 23. Since 2007, Sundman has been vocal in representing the residents of District 1.

“My neighbors’ priorities continue to be my priorities: to support Town Budget tax growth limited to inflation, support efficiencies in Town Government and Education without cutting programs, and encourage reduced spending without reducing the quality of programs," Sundman said.

"I will continue to support future long term repairs and improvements necessary to preserve and protect neighborhoods in Southport, Pine Creek, Old Dam and Fairfield Beach areas.”

“The biggest concern I hear from residents of all ages regarding taxes, is affordability, fairness, and the continued rate of taxation. In addition, neighbors are still reeling from incorrect tax assessments," Sundman continued.

"We must take an active role in this process to ensure change when the next revaluation process begins. Staying vocal on the subject continues to be important. That’s when as a District, we will continue to be proactive to ensure we will be treated fairly and not singled out.”

Additional areas of importance to Sundman include, most recently, the expanded Senior Tax Relief Program and the restoration of funding to Pequot Library.

Innovatively, in 2011 Sundman was part of the team that created the first and only RTM District website in Fairfield. This has become a daily news go-to site for all things District 1 by incorporating live tweets on the front page from District 1 Representatives.

In his role as Chairman of the RTM Public Works and Planning Committee, Sundman has helped residents resolve Public Works related issues such as illegal dumping and post-Sandy clean up efforts. Sundman is active within the community he lives; currently serving as Vice President of the Pine Creek Area Association, President of Scandinavian Club Fairfield Pine Creek, Board Member of Southport Conservancy, member of Sasquanaug Association for Southport Improvement, and member of Pequot Yacht Club. He lives in the Pine Creek Beach area with his wife and son, Max.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve constituents of District 1 and I kindly ask for your support on July 23,” Sundman said.

He supports the following Smarter Spending Candidates:

  • For Board of Education: John Llewellyn and Eileen Liu-McCormack
  • For RTM District 1: John Donovan, Jay Lipp, and Gaylord Meyer.

The Town of Fairfield Republican Caucus is Tuesday July 23 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Fairfield Ludlowe High School’s Lecture Hall. All registered Fairfield Republicans are able to vote in this Caucus.
