Residents Urged to Submit Sandy Applications, Intake Center May Soon Close

First Selectman Mike Tetreau is highly urging residents affected by Storm Sandy to submit applications as soon as possible for relief grants, as the Application Intake Center in Fairfield may soon be shuttered.

Applications including Community Development Block Grant, Disaster Recovery, Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation and the Rebuilding Program will be accepted.

The Fairfield Intake Center, at 100 Mona Terrace, will be available to assist residents in filling out and submitting their applications from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

There is no established deadline by the Connecticut Department of Housing to accept applications, but in early February the State will decide whether to close the Intake Center in Fairfield, according to Tetreau.

“The Town of Fairfield is here to assist our residents who are still dealing with the aftermath of Storm Sandy,” said Tetreau. “I highly encourage applicants to make an appointment as soon as possible since this Program is based on a first-come, first-served basis.”
