Connecticut Republican Party Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. released the following statement on the end of the 2014 legislative session:
“After campaigning against budget gimmicks, Dan Malloy spent this entire legislative session trying to push through gimmick after gimmick in a feeble attempt to hoodwink voters into giving him a second term.
“Whether he’s boasting about an imaginary budget surplus after relying on hundreds-of-millions of dollars of irresponsible borrowing, trying to buy the support of voters for $55 with a reckless tax rebate stunt, or passing a budget that covers up a deficit by assuming the state will magically find $75 million in lost revenue, it’s clear that Dan Malloy is worried more about improving his chances at re-election than improving Connecticut’s economy.
“Over the past few months, Democrats in Hartford have done nothing to improve Connecticut’s worst-in-the-nation economy. In fact, they chose to increase wasteful government spending and drive us further into debt.
“The only good news about this year’s session is that it’s over.”
