Why I Love Fairfield: Pietro Scotti

My first blog is about a private dinner party/cooking demonstration I was lucky enough to attend by Chef Pietro Scotti. Enjoy.

I write a blog about all things Fairfield, including real estate news, market statistics, and why I love this town so much. I will frequently feature my favorite places to shop, dine, and take the kids or dogs. I will also have weekly mortgage rates, and a snapshot on Fairfield and Southport homes for sale.

Pietro Scotti
Ok, I know Da Pietro is an amazing Zagat rated restaurant in Westport, but did you know that Chef Pietro will actually come to your home for a private cooking demonstration and then feed you?!!! Yes it is true, and my husband and I were lucky enough to have been invited to one of these cooking demonstrations on Saturday night in Southport, a gift from our good friends.  There were eight of us at this dinner and all agreed it was quite possibly one of the best meals each of us had ever had.

Our meal started with a mozzarella demonstration where Pietro made fresh and creamy mozzarella right before our eyes then served it over a bed of arugula, tomatoes and basil, finished with a drizzle of his very special extra virgin olive oil.

Then Pietro made delicious homemade ravioli filled with ricotta, fontina and parmesan cheese floating in a tomato basil broth.  These were light and airy and a perfect second course.

The star of the show was the Branzino stuffed with crabmeat, leeks, carrot, shitake mushrooms, zucchini and onion baked in a saffron broth. Seriously the finest fish I have ever tasted.

Dessert was Profiteroles au Chocolate.  Like a cloud of goodness filled with vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate ganache. They were ridiculous.

Again, a perfect meal in every way. If you have an opportunity to host one of these dinners, you and your guests will not be disappointed. Pietro will work the menu around any special requests…ours was completely vegetarian and nobody missed the meat, believe me. He is such good company and the life of the party, with his stories of Italy, his easy smile and his wonderful way with people.

If you can’t swing the private party, please go to his restaurant in Westport. They serve lunch and dinner!
