3 Friends – Katie Boland, Kelly Niznansky and Lindsey Morton; they grew up together in Fairfield. Touched by the devastation of Storm Sandy on the Fairfield Beach area – they hatched an idea of a beach cleanup with friends & family. The “IDEA” with the help of social media and Fairfield’s 1st Responders, it simply took off – culminating in over 1,000 volunteers and countless donations from local businesses on Veterans Day 2012. It was an overwhelming success in making a positive difference in not only cleaning up the beach area but reinforcing the good will of people helping and caring.
