A Swinging New Book! --"Jake Hanna--a Legend in His Own Time"--

The Fairfield University Bookstore presents: A Swinging New Book! JAKE HANNA: The Rhythm and Wit of a Swinging Jazz Drummer by author and niece, Maria Judge. Maria will read from her new book and sign copies on Tuesday, October 16th from 7:00pm-8:30pm on the 2nd floor. Event is free and open to the public and part of what's happening downtown during Fairfield's 1st Restaurant Week.


This colorful memoir of the great jazz drummer and witty storyteller recounts his life story and career through tributes, recollections and anecdotes--many of them his own hilarious quips-from more than 190 friends, fans, and fellow performers including all the great legendary performers, like Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Harry James, Hanna-Fontana, Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, Oscar Peterson, Count Basie, the Merv Griffin Show band and on more than 250 legendary albums.


Maria S. Judge's work has been published in A Cup of Comfort for Breast Cancer Survivors, Dan Wakefield's The Story of Your Life, Peace Corps Online, The Boston Irish Reporter, MIT Tech Talk, and The Merton Seasonal. A graduate of Holy Cross College and Northeastern University, she works at Berklee College of Music and formerly served as Associate Dean at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
