Bank and Police Department Team up for Identity Theft Seminar

As part of an ongoing program to provide educational value to the community, The Bank of Fairfield has joined forces with the Fairfield Police Department for a presentation on "Identity Theft:  What you Need to Know to Protect Yourself" on Wednesday, November 3rd from noon – 1:00 p.m. at the Fairfield Police headquarters, located at 100 Reef Road.  The seminar will feature Lieutenant James Perez of the Police Force's Department of Public Affairs.

Bank and town officials will discuss what consumers need to be aware of and how one can best protect oneself from becoming a victim of fraud.   They will also discuss some of the more common scams that are currently taking place locally and give advice about what to do if one's identity has been compromised.

Notes Bank of Fairfield President Fred Reinhardt, "In today's world, consumers need to be constantly educated about the schemes and tactics that identity thieves use.  This particularly applies to credit card and online identity theft.  You can't be too careful when it comes to protecting your identity, which, once compromised, can cause months and years of issues."  The Bank is holding the seminar as part of an ongoing series designed to inform the community about current issues.
