Fairfield Public Library Parenting Program -- Countdown to Kindergarten

Sending a child to kindergarten is an exciting and slightly scary event for both parent and child.  Veteran educators from the Fairfield Country Day School, Debbie Sullinger and Elly McKenna, will talk to parents about kindergarten preparedness. They will share their knowledge about what skills children should have when entering kindergarten today and how you can help your child to be ready.  This program will take place Tuesday, February 28 at 7 pm at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

Debbie Sullinger has been at Fairfield Country Day School for 28 years.  She has a master's in developmental reading and does all of the reading assessments in the Lower School.  Debbie works with pre-K through third grade teachers on all aspects of the curriculum from academics to zoo trips.  Elly McKenna has been a learning specialist at Fairfield Country Day school since 1992. Elly manages the Educational Record Bureau testing, analyzing each child's results and helping them use their strengths to succeed.

This talk is part of the Library’s Pathways to Parenting series offered September through March.  Additional topics include  –  Making Math Fun for Kids, Pre-K – 3rd Grade, Understanding  Your Son, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Childcare and more.  For a complete list of the Pathways to Parenting talks, visit the Library’s website www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org/children.htm.
