The Fairfield Organic Teaching Farm and the have teamed up to encourage families to grow food in their own backyards.  The workshop will take place 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Fairfield Public Library Woods Branch.

Fall is the time to plant garlic. Sal Gilbertie of Gilbertie's Herb Gardens will discuss how the professionals plant, maintain, harvest and cure organic garlic so you can successfully grow your own.  Gilbertie will have his latest book "Small Plot High Yield Gardening" available for sale and signing.

Garlic is propagated by sowing whole cloves.  Stop in between 10 and noon and purchase specially-selected seed garlic from local organic farms to plant at home this fall.  The fee for the seed is $1.
