Mystic Aquarium-Ocean Exploration at the Fairfield Public Library

The Fairfield Public Library is pleased to host two programs provided by the educators from Mystic Aquarium Institute for Exploration on Saturday, March 24.  Continuing with our month long One Book One Town celebration, these presentations will be held in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.  At 2 p.m. the program, Let’s See What You Know About theTitanic, will be geared toward children and at 3 p.m. the other program, Ocean Exploration, will be for adults and their families.

During the first hour, you will learn about the infamous vessel, Titanic, what was on board, how people believe it sank and how Dr. Robert Ballard was able to locate it at the bottom of the ocean.  There will be learning stations for the children.

The Mystic Aquarium multimedia presentation should be extremely fascinating for adults and their families during the 3:00 hour.  Did you know that less than ten percent of the ocean floor has been discovered? Dr. Robert Ballard found many fascinating wrecks on the ocean floor, in addition to locating the Titanic.  Journey along with Dr. Ballard and learn how he discovered these beautiful ships, learn about hydrothermal vents and how what we learn from them can help us today.
