Nami Book Club Meets to Discuss Patty Duke's Book

The Fairfield Public Library along with NAMI Fairfield will host a book club meeting on Thursday, May 17 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.  The book selection for May is A Brilliant Madness: Living with Manic-Depressive Illness by actress Patty Duke and Gloria Hochman.

Patty Duke joins with medical reporter Gloria Hochman to shed light on the powerful, paradoxical, and destructive illness called Manic-Depression or Bipolar Disorder. The title is perfect for such a great book, and thoroughly describes that mental disorders truly are a brilliant madness. Not only is this book educational, it lets you know that you are not alone if you have Manic Depression.

NAMI Fairfield and the Fairfield Public Library are offering this book club whose book selections will explore aspects of mental health and the brain.   Copies of the book are available at the Fairfield Public Library.  To obtain a reserved copy from the circulation desk at the Main Library, you must say you are from the NAMI Book Club. For more information, call the library at 203-256-3160.   Discussion leaders are Rosemary Crossland, Maureen Cuda and Khorshed Randeria.  NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Its goals are to support those living with mental illness and their loved ones, to provide educational programs to the community that foster understanding and healthy living, and to provide advocacy
