Storms, Trees and You

In the wake of two extreme weather events that left thousands without power, many residents have a heightened concern about trees.  Dr. Jeffrey S. Ward, a Chief Scientist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, will address your concerns in his presentation Storms, Trees and You on Monday, January 23rd, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fairfield Public Library Memorial Room.  Dr. Ward will explain how proper tree selection, placement and maintenance can help reduce power outages and damage to our properties while maximizing the benefits of trees such as providing shade, cooling, and beautifying our yards and streetscapes.  The talk will include tips for planting new trees and shrubs, general tree care, and how to spot potential problems on your property.  The program is sponsored by the Fairfield Forestry Committee and is free and open to the public.  For more information about Storms, Trees and You or the Fairfield Forestry Committee, contact Misty Beyer at mistybeyer@optonline.net or (203) 254-0123.
