Twitter & Telegraphs at the Fairfield Public Library

One Book One Town month in Fairfield continues with an interesting program, Could Twitter Have Saved the Titanic?  The Fairfield Public Library will feature this discussion on Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

The Titanic was a technological marvel, in no small part due to the state-of-art telegraphy on board.  It might now seem quaint, but telegraph was the original social network and a predecessor to today’s online culture.  Come to a discussion of Tom Standage’s book, The Victorian Internet:  The Remarkable Story of the Telegraph and the 19th Century’s Online Pioneers.

All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are open to the public and free of charge.  Registration is necessary.  Please register by going online to www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org  or call 203-256-3160 for more information.  Follow the activities of the Library on Twitter: www.twitter.com/fairfieldpublib and Facebook:  www.facebook.com/fairfieldlibrary.
