UK author, Lucinda Riley, makes US literary tour stop at Fairfield Public Library

[Editor's Note: This event has been canceled.]

In the tradition of DuMaurier’s classic, Rebecca, the Fairfield Public Library brings you Lucinda Riley, author of The Orchid House on Thursday, February 16.  The author’s visit will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Memorial Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.

The Orchid House is being released in the United States on February 14, 2012 by Atria Books. It was first published by Penguin in the UK and has sold over 800,000 copies in Europe under the name Hothouse Flower. It has been on the best-seller list in Germany for 17 weeks. Spanning the 1930s to present day, from the Wharton Park estate in England to Thailand, this sweeping novel tells the tale of a concert pianist and the aristocratic Crawford family, whose shocking secrets are revealed, leading to devastating consequences. The Orchid House is a beautiful, romantic, and poignant novel.

Lucinda Riley was born in Ireland, and during her childhood, traveled extensively abroad, particularly to the Far East. While taking a break from writing and acting to have her children, she designed and built a house on the island of Koh Chang, Thailand. It was this experience,
combined with her passion for history that inspired her to write The Orchid House. She has seven other published books that were written under the name ‘Lucinda Edmonds’. She currently lives in rural England with her husband and four children. To learn more about Lucinda
