Fairfield's Dwight Elementary a Blue Ribbon Winner

Fairfield's Dwight Elementary school, located on Redding Road, is one of four in Connecticut and 269 in the nation to win the Blue Ribbon award for 2012.

Fairfield's Timothy Dwight School has reportedly been named a National Blue Ribbon winner.

According to a report in the Fairfield Citizen the elementary school, located on Redding Road, is one of four in Connecticut and 269 in the nation to win the award for 2012.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' levels of academic achievement.

Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education's National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has honored America's most successful public and private elementary, middle and high schools.

Dwight is the second Fairfield public school to receive the honor — Stratfield School won in 1987 and 1993, according to the report. In addition Notre Dame High School and St. Thomas School won in 1997 and 2010, respectively.
