Fairfield Superintendent Gets 2% Raise, Bonus

Dr. David Title's three-year contract was renewed by the Board of Education on Tuesday.

The Board of Education on Tuesday renewed a three-year contract with Superintendent of Schools Dr. David G. Title, which extends from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015 and will give Title a 2 percent raise.

The vote to approve the contract came after a 90-minute executive session among Title and the board members. It passed in a 6-2 vote: Perry Liu and Sue Brand opposed the contract; member Tim Kery was absent Tuesday.

Brand said she supported renewing Title's contract, but could not support the amendment that added the 2 percent raise.

According to documents released by the Finance Department in February, . His salary and overall compensation package included in the contract passed Tuesday was not disclosed.  

, the contract won't be made public until it's officially signed. Title did not receive a raise when the contract was renewed last year, but was awarded a $10,000 performance bonus.

This year Title was awarded a $12,500 bonus, as outlined in the contract that was agreed upon in June 2011. It passed in a 6-2 vote; Brand and Liu opposed.  

According to language in the contract, Title is eligible for up to $12,500 in bonuses throughout the life of the agreement renewed Tuesday. The contract is at the end of each school year.

Following the vote, Board Chair Pamela Iacono thanked Title "for leading our district."

"I enjoy working here and I look forward to fulfilling all the terms of the contract," Title said.
