FWMS Class: No Way We're Having School Tomorrow!

With a big snowstorm coming, the students are placing their bets that there will be no school on Thursday.

After hitting me with a series of excellent questions during a visit to their language arts class Wednesday morning, I turned the tables and threw a question back at a group of FWMS students:

With the big snowstorm coming, will there be school tomorrow?

"No way!" the students enthusiastically responded.

They proceeded to tell me how the storm would arrive at 4 a.m. Thursday and continue for about 24 hours into Friday [the forecast is calling for up to a foot of snow]. One student was looking forward to staying in to play video games, while another was pumped for some fresh snow ahead of a weekend ski trip.

All of them — students in Susan Tamagni's sixth-grade language arts class — welcomed me into their room Wednesday to talk shop — about writing, reporting, editing, and life as a journalist.

Hard to believe, about 20 years ago I was sitting right where they were as a FWMS student. And even today, I'm with you, guys: let it snow!
