Town Facilities Commission Chair Jim Gallagher Resigns

According to a report in the Fairfield Citizen, Gallagher's wife, Joy Gallagher, a former teacher at North Stratfield School, has brought a lawsuit against the Board of Education over environmental conditions at the school she claims made her sick.

Chairman of the Jim Gallagher has reportedly resigned after First Selectman Michael Tetreau asked him to recuse himself from projects due to a potential conflict of interest.

According to a report in the Fairfield Citizen, Gallagher's wife, Joy Gallagher, a former teacher at , has brought a lawsuit against the Board of Education over environmental conditions at the school she claims made her sick.

Meanwhile the Town Facilities Commission has reportedly been examining levels of carcinogenic PCBs detected at and schools stemming from use of a window caulking product.

Tetreau told the Citizen that because the lawsuit names members of the Board of Education and central office staff, "it appears to be a conflict of interest" for Jim Gallagher to be involved with school projects. When he asked Gallagher to recuse himself from school projects "he chose to resign instead," Tetreau told the Citizen.
