Warde High Graduates Confident About Future *Includes Video*

Salutatorian Says Class Has Ability to Solve Any and Every Problem

The storm that tore through the region Thursday afternoon was a distant memory hours later when 328 seniors at Fairfield Warde High School celebrated the end of their high school days and the possibilities that lay ahead under a blue sky.

"So I wonder now, as we look to tomorrow and the roads leading out of Fairfield Warde, will our adolescent procrastination tendencies still carry on?" Ashley Pallathra, a graduating senior, asked the Class of 2010 during Warde's commencement ceremonies in the school's courtyard. "Maybe not completely. But I hope the simultaneously intimidating and exciting realization that life is about to significantly change will kick us into gear."

"I mean the daily routines we've grown accustomed to are about to be shaken up," she added.

Phillip Coletti, the class salutatorian, indicated that Warde's graduating seniors would rise to the challenge of life after high school, saying the Class of 2010 "is incredibly gifted and motivated."

"As a class, we have the ability to solve any and every problem that the world presents us with. It now becomes our responsibility to venture outside these walls and make a difference," Coletti advised fellow graduating seniors.

Warde High School has a 99 percent graduation rate with approximately 90 percent of graduates going on to further their education. While most graduates look forward to never having to return to their high school and leaving their hometown behind, at least one student does not.

"I am really excited about graduating," said Bobby Garfield. "I'm looking forward to playing baseball and hanging out with my friends before they go to college."

Matthew Bambach, who plans to attend Colgate University in the fall, said he expects to come back to visit his brother, who will be entering Warde High in the fall. Although Bambach has not decided on a major, he says he can't wait to experience everything college life holds in store for him.

Other graduates have big financial goals for the future.

"I looking forward to making a lot of money," said Patrick Deaux, who plans to attend Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport this fall and major in electrical engineering.
