Countdown to Get Organized (GO!) Month

Are you ready to make 2013 the year you finally get organized? Check out this countdown to make it happen.

Are you ready to make 2013 the year you finally get organized? Check out this countdown to make it happen.

Are you tired of losing things … of struggling to dig the scissors out of the junk drawer … of cringing whenever you open your closet door? If you are thinking “that’s me!” then 2013 is the year for you!

This year, during the month of January, The Seana Method will be posting a “project a day” every weekday on Patch. Each project should take 15-20 minutes, and if you follow along (and follow through), you will be well on your way to having an organized life by the end of the month.

During the month of December, I will be giving you a “countdown” activity each week to get you ready for January—or Get Organized (GO!) month.  I know what you’re thinking, “Really? Don’t I have enough to do during the month of December?” Well, yes you do. So these activities are quick and easy.

As you probably know from experience, the preparation for a project is just as important as the project itself (think of careful taping before painting!) So what do you need to do in order to get organized? This week I’d like you to make the commitment. To help you decide if you are ready to commit, ask yourself these questions:

  • Am I willing to spend 15-20 minutes each day working on this in January?
  • Am I willing to give up other items on my calendar to prioritize this project?
  • Am I willing to ask my family/coworkers for support?
  • What elements of my life are feeling out of control?
  • What part of the chaos is my fault?
  • Am I open to establishing new routines to make my life run smoother?

Basically, I want you to do a little soul searching and decide if now is the time for you. Just as with a new diet or exercise regime, the secret to succeeding will be your commitment to seeing it through.

I promise the process, once underway, will build momentum with huge rewards, but it won’t work unless you are “all in”. So talk it over with those around you, look inside, and make a decision. If you think you are ready to try, I’m with you. We’ll be starting in five weeks.

In the meantime, check out The Seana Method on Facebook for free tips for surviving the holidays. Happy Organizing!
