Fairfield Participating in “Small Business Saturday”

The Town of Fairfield is partnering with the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce to help promote “Small Business Saturday”, a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country.

“Small Business Saturday” dovetails with the upcoming first annual Shop & Stroll event, co-sponsored by the Town and Chamber, which is being held on Thursday, Dec. 12. Participating shops will stay open late and will offer an assortment of hors d’oeuvres and seasonal refreshments. Traveling carolers and musicians from local schools and other organizations will fill the air with holiday cheer, and local restaurants will be offering dinner or drink specials.

“The Town and Chamber continue to provide unique and fun events to encourage more shopping and dining in our key economic corridors,” said First Selectman Mike Tetreau. “Fairfield is fortunate to have a wide array of quality shops and restaurants that help bolster our economic base and attract residents and visitors alike.”

In honor of “Small Business Saturday”, which is being held in communities across the nation on Nov. 30, the Small Business Administration has re-launched www.sba.gov/saturday, which provides small business owners with tips for holiday marketing, hiring temporary workers and gearing up for the holiday season.  It also has a link for any business owners or consumers interested in learning how to participate in “Small Business Saturday.”

“We are happy to promote this important initiative to help support our local retailers, businesses and restaurants as the small business sector continues to be the heartbeat of our community,” said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Beverly Balaz.
