Brooke Mackno Earns Silver Medal At Eastern USA High School Ski Championships
Mackno, Jake Mason, Kyle Mason and Ben Hawthorne were the four members of the Fairfield alpine team who participated in the event
Brooke Mackno, Jake Mason, Kyle Mason and Ben Hawthorne, members of the Fairfield High School alpine ski team, participated in the Eastern U.S.A. High School championships last weekend at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, N.H.
Mackno took home the silver medal in the girls slalom event with a time of 1:19.86, while Mason finished fourth in the boys' competition in 1:14.85.
Qualifying for the event included the giant slalom and slalom events at Mount Southington with more than 100 of the state's best alpine racers. The final team of 12 boys and 12 girls represented Connecticut in New Hampshire.

They raced against squads from across the eastern United States, including New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Rhode Island and the entire northeast.
Other ski team members that made the final 30 included Kelsey Tague (24), Andrew Kirkpatrick (18) and Hamish Dewar (24).

The giant slalom event was cancelled due to heavy snow and poor visibility. Team New Hampshire won the slalom team event and Connecticut placed fourth.
