On Tuesday night, Fairfield American defeated Massachusetts, 12-2, in a game called after five innings because of the mercy rule. It was abattle of 2-0 teams in the tournament.
Fairfield American, which has outscored its first three opponents, 21-2, completes round play on Thursday against Rhode Island before Friday's New England championship game.
