But Hamden (5-4) stormed back with three runs in the bottom half,  scoring two when Marr dropped Will Hindinger's fly ball.

The Green Dragons  poured in on in the fourth, scoring five runs. Nick Velardi, Michael Dwyer, Hindinger and Carignan all had RBI in the inning. Another costly error by center fielder Andrew Hollis plated an additional run.

Fairfield Prep starter Matt DeRosa, who was knocked out with one out in the fourth, took the loss. He issued four walks with no strikeouts.

DeRosa was followed by Lucas Rosado, who failed to retire any of the four batters he faced, allowing two hits and two walks.

Nicolas Vig finally stopped the rally with two strikeouts and tossed the final 2 2/3 innings, surrendering a two-run homer to Velardi that gave Hamden a 10-4 lead. Velardi finished with three RBI.

Fairfield Prep tried to rally in the fifth, pulling within 8-4 on Matt Orlando's bases-loaded walk. But Anthony Redamonti, representing the tying run,  grounded out to end the inning .

The Jesuits also left the bases loaded in the seventh after Donohue's RBI single scored Marr with Fairfield Prep's final run.

Fairfield Prep hosts West Haven on Monday (3.45 p.m.) in its next game.
