Fairfield Prep Edges Xavier, 67-65

The Fairfield Prep basketball team avenged one of its two losses Friday with a thrilling 67-65 victory at Xavier.
Terry Tarpey just missed another triple-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the Jesuits won their sixth straight game to improve to 11-2.
Still, Fairfield Prep needed a 3-pointer by freshman Tommy Nolan with 12 seconds remaining to erase a 65-64 deficit.

Tim Butala added 18 points for Fairfield Prep, which suffered a 60-44 loss to the Falcons at Alumni Hall on Jan. 3. Tarpey was not at 100 percent for that game, however, after suffering a sprained ankle in the Fairfield Prep Holiday Classic.
Friday's rematch was close throughout. Xavier led 17-14 after the first quarter and 33-32 at the intermission. The Falcons then took a 48-47 lead into the final period.

Jovan Santos-Knox scored 21 points to lead Xavier, which dropped to 5-8. Patrick D'Amato added 13 for the Falcons.
