Fairfield Prep Finishes Second In SCC Indoor Track Championships

Virginia-bound Connor Rog cruised to victory in the 3,200-meter run

The Fairfield Prep indoor track team finished second Friday at the Southern Connecticut Conference championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

Amity won the team title with 100 points, followed by Fairfield Prep (43), Cheshire (37) and Xavier (32). Sheehan and Notre Dame of West Haven tied for fifth with 31 points.

Fairfield Prep's Connor Rog romped to victory in the 3,200-meter run -- his speciality -- with a time of 9:22.50. He finished more than 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Adam Kelley of Amity (9:54.00).

Rog (2:33.95) and Patrick Corona (2:34.54) finished second and third, respectively, for the Jesuits in the 1,000-meter run while Corona also placed second in the 1,600-meter run (4:30.88).

Fairfield Prep's Adam Vare finished third in the 300-meter dash with a time 38.25.
