Fairfield American will be interested observers on Wednesday when pool play concludes in the New England Regionals in Bristol. If things break right, it could still secure the top seed for Thursday's semifinals.

To get the top seed, Fairfield American (3-1) needs Massachusetts (2-1) to beat New Hamsphire (3-0) on Wednesday, thereby creating a three-way tie, and allow at least two runs.

In the event of a three-way tie, the tiebreaker is runs allowed per innings defensed. The head-to-head tiebreaker isn't applicable because Connecticut and Massachusetts don't play in pool play.

Connecticut -- 10/22 -- .455

New Hampshire -- 9/18 -- .500

Massachusetts -- 9/16 -- .563

If New Hampshire loses 3-2, both New Hampshire (12) and Massachusetts (11) will have a higher average than Fairfield American.

The top seed after round robin play faces the No. 4 seed on Thursday at 7 p.m. The second and third seeds play in the other semifinal at 3 p.m. Both of those games also will be televised by NESN.

The championship game, which will air on ESPN2, is set for Saturday at 1 p.m.

Former Fairfield Ludlowe stars Tom Nagy and Billy Malone are members of the Fedell's Mechanics team which is headed to the NABF World Series.

Shelton's Jason Foster tossed 7 2/3 innings as Fedell's defeated American Steakhouse 3-2 Sunday in the finals of the NABF Northeast Regionals at Quigley Stadium.

With the win, Fedell's, which plays out of the Senior City League in Bridgeport, qualified for the NABF World Series beginning Thursday in Louisville.

Foster allowed two runs and scattered 10 hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. He won Fedell's first and last games in the tournament and was the named the Most Valuable Pitcher.

Foster, 22 pitched in the spring at Central Connecticut State University.

Ryan Cimino, 31, who played collegiately at Southern Connecticut, had a two-run double in the third when Fedell's scored all its runs.

Fedell’s, which was making its seventh appearance in the regionals, advanced to the World Series for the first time.

Connecticut Premier AAU Girl Basketball is hosting an eight-week clinic for all girls in grades four through 12.

It will take place at Staples High School in Westport on Saturdays beginning on Sept 17 and ending on Nov. 5. Grades 4-7 from 9am-10:30am. Grades 8-12 from 10:30am-12pm.

Tryouts for the 2012 season will take place on Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 at Staples.
