Fresh off its stirring championship victory in the Fairfield Prep Holiday Classic, the boys basketball team returns to FCIAC action on Tuesday when the Mustangs visit winless Harding.
Warde, now 3-2, won a pair of close games in the tournament, certainly a good sign as the Mustangs were on the wrong end of a number of close decisions last season.

The Mustangs defeated Fairfield Prep 76-68 in overtime in the first round, then stunned Notre Dame of Fairfield 52-49 on a 3-pointer by tourney MVP Michael Wright at the buzzer.
Warde, which just missed the state tournament last year after finishing at 7-13, will be looking to build on those two victories.

"Now we're understanding how to finish off games and play 32 minutes," Warde coach Ryan Swaller said.
Fairfield Ludlowe (1-4), which dropped two games in the Prep tournament hosts undefeated St. Joseph, the state's top-ranked team, which is coming off wins against Archbishop Molloy and New London in the Northeast Christmas Classic last week.

Tiler Thompson and Rachel Ugolik scored as the Hamden girls hockey team defeated Notre Dame of Fairfield 2-0 on Friday.
Jordan D'Aurio was spectacular in goal for the Lancers, making 48 saves and blanking the Green Dragons before giving up just one goal in each of the second and third periods.
Hamden improved to 3-3, while Notre Dame of Fairfield, which managed just 12 shots, dropped to 1-5.
