The sixth grade Fairfield PAL 76ers defeated the Scarsdale Wildcats 61-43 to win the championship of the 30th annual Ridgefield Basketball Association Travel Invitational Tournament.
The team went 5-0 in the tournament and they are undefeated with a 15-0 record in the Fairfield County Basketball League, A Division.

Team members include Sean O'Leary, Everett Lyons, Sam Nassar, Will Lucas, Cole Prowitt-Smith, Michael McMahon, Malcolm Brune, Francisco Guillen, Connor Bennett and Josh Evans.
The team is coached by Paul McMahon and the assistants are Sean O'Leary and John Lucas.

New York Yankees senior vice president and general manager and Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein will appear at Sacred Heart University on Jan. 31 for a"Hot Stove Talk."
The baseball panel discussion will take place at SHU'sEdgerton Center for the Performing Arts on 5151 Park Ave in Fairfield. The session, which gets under way at 7 p.m., will be hosted by Steve Berthiaume of ESPN's "Baseball Tonight."
Tickets are $35 to the general public, $25 to SHU faculty, part-time students and grad students and $15 to SHU fulltime undergrad students.

Terry Tarpey recorded a triple-double Friday as the Fairfield Prep basketball team rolled to its fourth straight win with a 79-61 victory over West Haven at Alumni Hall.
Tarpey finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists, helping the Jesuits improve to 9-2. He just missed a quadruple-double as he also blocked nine shots.
Fairfield Prep nearly reached the 50-point mark in the first half, building a 49-33 lead at the intermission.
The Jesuits led by as many as 22 points early in the second half before West Haven sliced the deficit to 62-52 after the third quarter, but Fairfield Prep regained control in the fourth period to post a comfortable victory.
Ryan Blake scored 15 points and freshman Tommy Nolan added 14 for the Jesuits. Tim Butala chipped in with 13 for Fairfield Prep.
Tieron Jackson scored 25 points to pace the Blue Devils.

Arkel Miles finally had a break-out game for the Notre Dame of Fairfield boys basketball team.
The senior center scored 23 points on Friday, leading the Lancers to a 77-66 victory over Stratford.
Dan Upchurch and Earl Coleman each added 15 points for Notre Dame, which pulled away in the second half to win its second straight game and improve to 7-4.
The Lancers held a 37-36 lead at halftime, but built an eight-point lead after outscoring Stratford 17-11 in the third quarter.
Notre Dame is the defending FCIAC champions, but it has had to deal with adversity as two players - including starter Tre McPherson - were recently dismissed from the team, forcing the still talented Lancers to rely on some underclassmen.
Bernard Brantley scored 25 points and Bernard Brantley added 16 for the Red Devils, who dropped to 5-6 following their third straight loss.
