Backup goalkeeper Chris Gutierrez made just six saves to record the shutout.
Tyler Carbone recorded 40 saves for Cheshire, which dropped to 6-5.
Thursday's contest began a stretch in which Fairfield Prep will play three games in as many days as the Jesuits now head to New Jersey to participate in the inaugural Jesuit Shootout at the Prudential Center in Newark.
On Friday, the Jesuits take on Boston College High (Mass) at 5.30, then play in either the championship or consolation game on Saturday -- noon or 2 p.m. -- against Canisius or host St. Peter's Prep.

The Notre Dame of Fairfield boys hockey team suffered a 4-0 loss to New Canaan on Thursday at the Milford Ice Pavilion in Steve Hetherman's debut as the Lancers' interim head coach, a role he will fill for the remainder of the season.
Hetherman was promoted after legendary Lancers' coach Marty Roos stepped down last week. Roos won a state-record 536 games and six state championships during a 40-year coaching career with Fairfield Prep and Notre Dame of Fairfield.
New Canaan improved to 7-3-1 while the Lancers dropped to 3-8.
Notre Dame of Fairfield outshot New Canaan 13-10 in the first period, but the Rams grabbed a 1-0 lead when Jake Granito converted a 5-on-3 power play in the final minute of the stanza.
Henry Stanton scored another power-play goal in the second period, the first of his two goals, to make it 2-0. Stanton and Dylan Hart then tallied in the third period to complete the scoring.
Despite the result, New Canaan outshot Notre Dame of Fairfield by a slim 31-30 margin.
Rams goalkeeper Chris Koennecke made 30 saves for his first shutout of the season while Justin Krochko stopped 27 shots for the Lancers.

The Fairfield fencing team returned to action on Thursday night by sweeping Hand with the boys posting a 6-3 win and the girls grabbing an 8-1 victory.
The boys were led by captains Garrett Bond and Greg Convertito, who finished the match going 3-0 and 2-1, respectively. The boys won the first two bouts of the match before dropping the next three.
Bond righted the ship, winning his second straight bout to tie the match score at 3-3 at the end of the second round.
Fairfield went to the bench and pulled out sophomore epee fencer George Whiteside, who showed his versatility, winning his bout 5-2 to give the foil squad a 4-3 match lead.
The girls team was back at full strength and put on a clinic. Kirsti Carr started the meet and dropped her first bout 5-2, but that would be the last time Hand scored five touches the entire match.
Fairfield rattled off eight straight wins, including two great performances by Carr, while captain Ivy Wong went 3-0 on the evening. Not only did Wong go undefeated, but she went untouched, winning each bout 5-0.
Alexandra Morrison returned to the starting lineup after being sidelined by a pulled hamstring for the past few meets. She went 2-0, winning her final bout 5-0.
With Thursday’s victory, the boys improved to 6-1 while the girls remained unbeaten at 6-0-1. Fairfield's next meet is at North Haven on Tuesday.
