Fairfield National will face Westport in the loser's bracket finals of the District Two 12-year-old Little League tournament on Friday at Blackham School (5:30 p.m.).

The winner advances to Saturday's final against Fairfield American at noon.

Fairfield American defeated Fairfield National 11-3 in the winner's bracket final on Tuesday. Westport stayed alive with a 10-3 win over Trumbull American after falling to Fairfield National 4-3 in the semifinals on Monday.

The Fairfield 13-year-old Babe Ruth team faces Darien in the first round of the state tournament on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Ridgefield's Cuiccoli Field.

In Fairfield wins, it will play either host Ridgefield or New London in the winner's bracket semifinals on Sunday at 4 p.m.. If Fairfield loses, it plays in the loser's bracket on Monday at East Ridge Middle School at 5 p.m.

The Fairfield Owls began play in the U-16 Mickey Mantle AABC state tournament on Thursday in Waterbury.

The Owls (17-6), who are appearing in the tournament for the second straight year, clinched their berth with a 12-2, six-inning win over Norwalk on Monday. 

The winner advances to the North Atlantic Regional, which also will  take place in Waterbury July 21-24. The winner of the regionals heads to the Mickey Mantle World Series in McKinney, Texas from Aug. 4-7. 

The Owls are coached by Jeff Love, who played for St. John's University and was drafted by the St Louis Cardinals out of college. He played Class AA ball for the Cardinals and the Houston Astros as a pitcher and saw action with the independent Bridgeport Blue Fish.

The semifinals in the 11-year-old District Two baseball tournament took place Thursday at Unity 1 in Trumbull. Fairfield National defeated Monroe and Fairfield American bested Trumbull National 11-1 to set up another all-Fairfield final.

The championshipgame will be played on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Unity 1 in Trumbull.

The Fairfield Little League girls softball  9/10-year old All-Star team began play in the sectional one tournament on Wednesday with a 10-4 win over Wallingford at Black Rock.

Games will follow on Saturday (Redding-Easton), Sunday (Seymour) and Monday (North Branford) in pool play.

Brittany Romero tossed a three-hitter Wednesday as the 12-year-old Fairfield softball team defeated North Branford 4-0 in the finals of the section one tournament at Unity Park in Trumbull.

Fairfield advances to the state tournament in Danbury and will face district seven winner Mystic in a two-out-of-three beginning on Saturday.

The winner will travel to Bristol, home of the East Region, for the first time for the regional tournament.

On Saturday at 9 a.m., the Fairfield National 9-year-olds will be playing in the finals against Monroe in the Monroe 9-year-old tournament.

Fairfield National defeated Fairfield American 9-6 in nine innings on Wednesday evening to earn a spot in the finals. The finals take place at Monroe's Beardsley Fields. The Fairfield National 9-year-olds are managed by Bradley Weinstein.
