Fairfield Giants results in the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner League from this past weekend:
Mighty Mite Junior
The Fairfield Giants continue to play ferocious defense. The Giants' defense, led by Charlie Wilcox and Brendan Dunleavy, handcuffed the Seymour Tigers.
Offensively, Fairfield had no problem moving the ball. Quarterback Nick Morris completed his first pass of the season to Finn Donelan for a touchdown. Michael Innaimo and Calvin Caione each ran in for scores.
The Giants host the Stratford Redskins in their next game on Sunday at 9 a.m.
Junior Pee Wee
Park City Panthers 13 – Fairfield 1 12
Danbury Trojans 13 – Fairfield Giants2 6
The Fairfield Giants Junior Pee Wee 2 hosted the Danbury Trojans, who scored a touchdown on the game's opening possession to take a 7-0 lead.
The Giants answered on their first possession as Brian Howell dodged several tackles en route to a touchdown. The extra point was no good and Danbury led 7-6 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Fairfield turned over the ball, which led to the Trojans' second touchdown. The last 20 minutes of the game featured two fumbles and an interception.
Pee Wee
Fairfield Giants 26, Danbury Trojans 0
The Pee Wee Giants improved to 4-1 on the year with a dominating performance against Danbury on Sunday. The Giants were welcomed by a homecoming crowd and responded with a strong effort, especially on defense.
Fairfield took a 6-0 lead on its second drive. Brian Azarian had a long run,
breaking several tackles to bring Fairfield deep into Danbury territory. Harrison Houghton then throw a touchdown pass to Will Parisi, who out-jumped the Danbury defensive back to make the catch.
Parisi is the newest member of the team to be sporting a mohawk haircut and the new look worked well as he excelled on both sides of the ball.
Danbury only had one drive deep into Fairfield territory, and it came late in the game. Fairfield's defense scored two touchdowns, including an interception return by Brian Azarian. The other defensive score came when Parisi stripped a Danbury runner and raced 55 yards.
Jack Price and Gabe Reale made a number of tackles and both had interceptions in the third quarter after Fairfield built a 12-0 halftime lead.
Price rumbled about 35 yards, but Fairfield was unable to cash in that opportunity. Azarian capped the scoring with a 25-yard TD run in the fourth, then kicked the conversion for the two points.
Junior Midget
Danbury Trojans 20, Fairfield Giants 0
The Trojans out-muscled the Giants throughout the game, although Fairfield Giants kept Danbury at bay for most of the first quarter.
Fairfield's defense was led by Henry Purdy, Will Melbourne, Brendan Beiser and Matt King. However, Danbury did most of its scoring in the second quarter against the smaller Giants, who couldn't generate much offense.
The Giants look to bounce back on Sunday when they host the Newington
Knights at 1 p.m.
Third Grade Wildcats Tie Wilton White, 0-0
The third grade Wildcats battled Wilton White to a scoreless tie on Sunday Both teams moved the ball well but were unable to score on strong defenses.
On offense, Wildcats quarterback Andrew Conklin threw for more than 40 yards to receiver Jack Morrison, who made some strong catches, while wingback Ryan Mcintosh rushed for than 50 yards.
On defense, linebacker Harry Chandler made a great hit on a Wilton running back, which caused a fumble that tackle James Cullinan pounced on to preserve the shutout. Other defensive standouts included guard Sean Flanary, tackle Jack Mckenna and middle linebacker Gavin McCulloch.
Seventh Grade Red Wildcats Defeat Wilton Blue, 20-0
The seventh grade Wildcats Red team defeated Wilton Blue 20-0 on Sunday as Fairfield’s smothering defense punished its opponents throughout the game.
The Wildcats' defensive line, led by the strong play of Justin Collier, Ben Ehlers, Sean Close, Jakob Snow and Nick Johnson, plugged running lanes and frequently found their way into the backfield. Matt Landry, Owen Buhrendorf, Conner Devaney and Ryan Devaney continued their great open field play, shutting down all outside running and passing plays.
Offensively, the Wildcats used their speed and power to generate a running game that moved the ball well. Grant Carnemark and Michael Piroli each rushed for more than 100 yards with Carnemark scoring two touchdowns and Piroli adding another.
Fairfield’s ground attack was made possible by the outstanding blocking of Michael Risley, Will Mitola, John Guimento, Mark Garcia, Kristian Segerberg, Alex Borruso and Luke Marren.
Fairfield Red looks to continue its winning ways on Sunday at 9:30am at Warde High School against Westport South.
Sixth Grade Wildcats 5-0 After Taking Ridgefield, 25-6
The sixth grade Red Wildcats continue their impressive run, defeating the Ridgefield Raiders 25-6 on Saturday to improve to 5-0.

On one play, he passed to Timmy Jacobi for a quick 20-yard catch and Jacobi turned it into a 50-plus yard TD run.
The offense continued to play impressively as a unit with big plays by Kris Gjinaj, TJ Grace, Peter Fucigna, John Blumenthal, Jack Curtis and Robbie Buhrendorf.
On defense, the Wildcats, who fell just short of a fifth straight shutout, were led by playmakers Clay Zachery, Joey Turner, Josh Evans and AJ Valus. Ridgefield was held scoreless until the fourth quarter.
Next up for the Wildcats is a home game at Warde against Wilton on Sunday at 8 a.m.
Eighth Grade Blue Wildcats Fall to Ridgefield, 14-7
The eighth grade Blue team did not lose Sunday game 14-7 as much as it ran out of time as the ended with Fairfield on Ridgefield's 10-yard line.
The passing game for the Blue team was effective throughout the game with excellent receptions by Rohit Thota, Spencer Foley, and RJ Beby. Chris Howell again broke open some long runs on the outside, which were complemented by Spencer Foley's hard-charging efforts on the inside.
However, penalties and interceptions hurt Fairfield throughout the contest. Fairfield's defense was led by linebackers Chase Linden, Conor Gallagher, Spencer Foley and Connor Reilly. The secondary also played well as Chris Howell, Patrick Craig, Rafael Casas and Jeff Dutter limited Ridgefield to few passing yards.
