Fairfield Giants Week Two recap:

Mighty Mite Jr

Fairfield Giants 30, Bridgeport Raiders 6

The Fairfield MM Jr Giants continue their undefeated season (2-0) by beating the Bridgeport Raiders 30-6 on a day that we remember with the rest of the country the day we lost thousands of innocent victims. QB Nick Morris, WB Finn Donelan, FB Calvin Caione each scored touchdowns and RB Michael Innaimo scored twice behind the line of TJ O’Connell, Maximillian Griffin, Maximillian Spies, Peter Strang, Brendan Dunleavy, Gavin Toth and Charles Wilcox. The Defense continued to stop the Bridgeport Offense with the exception of a broken play the allowed the RB to bounce his run back for a long touchdown.

Fairfield Giants 20, Newington Knights 0

The Fairfield Giants Junior Pee Wee1 team beat Newington Sunday 20-0 to even their record for the year at 1-1. It was a day filled with emotions as Fairfield paid tribute to the Heroes of 9/11. Members of Fairfield Fire Fighters and Police Departments joined the four Giants captains in the center of the field for the coin toss. "That was a great moment, Coach Houghton said, "to have the First Selectmen, our service personal and all the fans from both teams waving flags.  The National Anthem sung by one of our coaches daughter's Maddie Roberto, just awesome." The Giants then did their part and capped off the day with a victory. Lead by the line of P.J. Egan, T.J. Walton, Ethan Gilmore, Nick Loris, Chase Reynolds, Justin Hathaway and Eric Pierpont the Giants moved down the field and scored in the first quarter when Finn Duran broke through the middle and after a great cut back burst into the end zone for the first score. Duran would add another score in the third quarter.

Later in the third quarter, quarterback Owen Cirilli drove over two Newington players on a 5-yard scamper to complete the scoring. Fairfield’s Defense allowed only 44 yards in the game and stopped Newington at key moments in their drive.  Next week the Giants face the New Haven Steelers in New Haven.

West Haven 18, Fairfield Giants 0

The Fairfield Giants played good, hard-nosed football this past weekend despite losing to the West Haven Seahawks. Fairfield’s offense couldn’t sustain a drive throughout, only crossing midfield twice in the game. The Giants had some great defensive play from Brendan Beiser, Jack Hoey, Henry Purdy, John Haley, Anthony Battaglia, Bruno Borges, Spencer Green, Marcus Sherrod, Will Melbourne, Jaylen Jennett and Matt King. The Seahawks' three scores came on broken plays.
