Fairfield Warde Football Subdues St. Joseph, 28-6

Mustangs force six turnovers to win second straight and climb over .500 at 4-3

The St. Joseph football team was in a giving mood and Fairfield Warde gladly accepted the largesse.

Devon Lofton and Maxx Garrett each had two of their team's six turnovers as the Mustangs defeated the Cadets 28-6 Friday night at Tetreau/Davis Field.

St. Joseph actually grabbed a 6-0 lead when Jon Prutting returned an interception 47 yards for a score in the second quarter, but it was all Warde after that as the Mustangs erupted for three touchdowns to take a 21-6 lead at the half.

In an up-and-down season, the Mustangs (4-3) put together their first two-game winning streak and climbed over .500 heading into next week's clash against Staples in Westport.

St. Joseph dropped to 1-6 a year after the Cadets won their second straight CIAC Class S state championship.
