The Fairfield Warde and Fairfield Prep football teams faced their first live competion on Wednesday as they squared off against each other and Derby in a three-way scrimmage at Tetreau/Davis Field.
With relatively new regimes in place, the Mustangs and Jesuits are hoping to continuing their rebuilding process this season.
Third-year coach Duncan Della Volpe has guided Fairfield Warde to back-to-back .500 season while Fairfield Prep is coming off a 3-7 campaign under first-year mentor.
While that doesn't sound like much, it was an improvement from the previous year when the Jesuits hit rock bottom with an 0-10 record.
Warde's next scrimmage is at Hillhouse on Saturday at 10 a.m. while Fairfield Prep hosts Fairfield Ludlowe on Saturday at Alumni Field at 9 a.m.
