After an exciting season, the 8th grade Fairfield Wildcats football season ended a week too soon in the Fairfield County Football League semifinals on Saturday. The final score was a tough 21-12 loss at Darien.

Darien scored in the first quarter and took an early 7-0 lead, but the Wildcats answered back.  An amazing 50 yard dodge and run by Wildcat Jack Curtis positioned Fairfield for the score.  The Wildcats' capable quarterback, Matt Cerminaro, took advantage of the optimal field position and snuck through Darien's tough defensive line for the Wildcats' first score of the day. The extra point attempt was thwarted by Darien and the Wildcats trailed going into halftime  7-6.

Despite the efforts of a strong Wildcat defensive team led by Clay Zachery, Wil Parisi, AJ Valus, Jack Kovaleski, Justin Keith and Joey Turner, Darien scored again in the third quarter and early in the 4th quarter increasing their lead to 21-6.

The Wildcats were resilient though and after a first down earned by Timmy Jacobi, Josh Evans scored the second and final Fairfield touchdown after a strong run and carry. The final game score was 21 -12.

The Wildcats successful overall season ended with a final record was 6-3-1.
