The Notre Dame of Fairfield boys basketball team left nothing to chance Wednesday.
Dan Upchurch scored 18 points to pace a balanced attack as the Lancers crushed winless Oxford 87-42 to lock up the top seed for the South-West Conference playoffs, which begin Saturday.
Upchurch paced four players in double figures for Notre Dame. Earl Coleman chipped in with 16 points, Arkel Miles added 15 and Marcus Ortiz 11 for the Lancers (12-2, 17-3).

Notre Dame took control early, building leads of 22-14 after the first quarter and 42-25 at the half.
The Lancers then poured it on in the third quarter, outscoring the Wolverines 30-10 to turn the contest into a blowout.
