NY Giants' Mark Herzlich to Speak in Fairfield

The linebacker and cancer survivor will speak in March in a CT Challenge Speakers Series event.

New York Giants' linebacker and cancer survivor Mark Herzlich will be speaking at the next Connecticut Challenge Speakers Series event, scheduled for March 21.

Herzlich will give his talk "From Cancer to the Super Bowl" at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at Roger Ludlowe Middle School. The event is presented by Colony Grill.

In 2008, Herzlich was a first-team All American and ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He had to sit out the entire 2009 season after being diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.

Herzlich fought back and -- just two years after his diagnosis -- became a starting linebacker for the New York Giants in 2011.

Advance tickets (which can be purchased here) are $8 for adults and $5 for students. All tickets -- subject to availability -- are $10 at the door.

Funds raised by the event support survivorship programs at the Connecticut Challenge Center for Survivorship in Southport. Money raised will also support hospitals in Connecticut that are part of the CT Challenge Survivorship Network, in addition to groundbreaking research that will benefit cancer survivors everywhere.
